Biographies
-
I have written a few biographies of some of the more
significant characters in our family. They are compilations
of historical data sources interwoven with some of the cultural events that
were occuring during their lifetimes. The sources that I have
drawn upon are censuses, newspaper articles, ships' manifests,
and other relevant historical material.
-
Hermann & Franziska Albert - both immigrants from Germany who met each other in New York and later moved to San Francisco where they were married in 1894, raised a family and lived the remainder of their lives in the City by the Bay.
-
Charles J. Janson - an emigrant from Sweden who established successful businesses in San Francisco during the 19th century. He was one of the early settlers, arriving there in October of 1849.
-
Henrik Gustav Mauritz Lindskog - also an emigrant from Sweden who was born in 1850 and arrived in San Francisco later in the century and married one of the daughters of Charles Janson.
-
Jonathan Stanley - from Franklin County Virgina who moved his young family to Rhea County Tennessee. This research also focuses on the present day location of land grants that were received by Jonathan in 1825 and 1826.
-
John D. Doughty - from Brooklyn New York and San Francisco. He was the first minister of the New Jerusalem Church, a.k.a., Swedenborgian in San Francisco from 1867 to 1893.
-
Antonio & Maria Leonetti - from Italy, Germany and San Francisco. Antonio was an Italian immigrant who moved to the U.S. in 1883, started a fruit store and raised his children by himself after his wife died in the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire.
